  1. I must say, it’s not often I get to offer feedback on book with no words in it. In fact, never. But today that’s all changed. For here we have a very short picture book that is, well, just drawings. So, what’s it about? And how can I tell what it’s about? Well, that’s the thing. It’s also very, VERY clever.
The message of this book is simple. The world is filling up with rubbish and it’s killing wildlife. In eight wonderfully colourful illustrations, this book not only shows the extent of the problem but also empowers children to tackle it.
This book is perfect for any infant/primary school that is looking for a book that will inspire discussion. I can see 5 – 7 year olds not only loving the colourful drawings but also wanting to know more. And that’s the trick, isn’t it. We want children to want to know what’s happening to the environment and,
most importantly, to want to know how they can help to stop it.
Of course, as there are no words, I want to spend a little time discussing the illustrations. And here the book excels. They are colourful and look very ‘hand drawn’. I like that. Personally I dislike the Disney style. You know the sort of thing: all big eyes and full, red lips. Yuck! But this felt comfortable and fitted the story perfectly.
All in all, this is a very sweet, visual story that young children will enjoy exploring. And it could kickstart a lot of discussion too.
